After a season where Lille OSC had multiple options at left-back, the position has suddenly become a top priority for reinforcement. Mitchell Bakker has gone back to his parent club, Atalanta, Ismaily departed after failing to agree on a new contract, and Gabriel Gudmundsson was sold to Leeds United.
These rapid exits mean Les Dogues now have just one recognized left-back in the squad: Vincent Burlet, a 19-year-old Belgian youth international who had a successful loan spell with Le Mans in the semi-professional third tier of French football, the Championnat National.
Clearly, Lille need to strengthen this area, and the club has been actively trying to fix this weakness. David Möller Wolfe, the 23-year-old AZ Alkmaar player, remains the club`s primary target. The Norwegian international impressed this season with the Dutch side. However, Lille faces competition from several clubs.
According to reports from France, Stade Rennais are reportedly considering a move in Ligue 1 following the departure of Adrien Truffert (23) to AFC Bournemouth. Premier League teams are also interested in the fullback. Any interested club might need to pay at least €12m for a transfer.
