French football club Lille OSC is reportedly nearing the finalization of a deal to sign promising Cameroonian teenager Angel Yondjo, aged 18, from the EF Brasseries Du Cameroun academy. This information comes via a report from L`Équipe.
Yondjo`s youth club is expected to receive a transfer fee in the region of €2 million for the young player, who is considered one of the standout talents of his age group. Angel Yondjo is anticipated to undergo his medical examination shortly before signing a long-term contract with Lille, which is set to run until 2030.
Lille has reportedly been tracking the attacking player, who is already a youth international for Cameroon with appearances for the U23 squad, for the past year. The Ligue 1 side successfully beat competition from numerous clubs across Europe interested in the player, including Stade Rennais, Olympique Lyonnais, AC Milan, and notably Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City.
Lille may have held an advantage in the race, potentially due to their previous successful signing of Carlos Baleba, now 21, from the very same Brasseries Du Cameroun academy. This history demonstrates a clear development pathway and potential for success for young players joining Lille from that institution.
