West Ham United is reportedly showing strong interest in acquiring 20-year-old Lille midfielder Ngal`ayel Mukau.
It has been a busy transfer summer for the French club: 23-year-old Lucas Chevalier has already completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain, and 24-year-old Bafodé Diakité is close to leaving for AFC Bournemouth. However, Lille has consistently proven itself to be a shrewd and tough negotiator in the transfer market.
West Ham should not expect an easy deal. If they wish to secure the former K.V. Mechelen player, they will have to commit a significant sum. Reports indicate that the Hammers are expected to pay over €20 million for the midfielder.
The Premier League side had the opportunity to directly observe the DR Congo international this past Saturday when they hosted Lille in a friendly match. Mukau was in good form, demonstrating his ability to drive effectively from deep, playing the full ninety minutes in the 1-1 draw. He even converted his penalty in the 5-4 shootout, which the English side won.
