Aasif Iqbal, a senior Bangla reporter, then attacked Litton Das for his “rude and unacceptable” actions.
It was impolite behavior on Litton’s part. We were unable to admit that we had been insulted in any way. Reporters will follow Bangladesh cricket wherever it goes. We were allowed to speak with the players by the ICC. Mahmudullah and Taskin (Ahmed) spoke with us, but Litton’s behavior was not appropriate. Then he inquired with security as to what the journalists were up to. He told Daily Cricket, “Just because he isn’t scoring runs doesn’t mean he will misbehave with us.”
Litton Das expressed his regret on Facebook on Monday, writing, “I sincerely apologize for the incident that occurred in the team hotel yesterday.” To be honest, I had no idea there were so many media there. I sincerely apologize for the unexpected incident. I treat the media with respect at all times. An important part of Bangladesh cricket’s development has been played by journalists.
With just 89 runs scored in three games during the current World Cup, the right-handed batter has appeared out of control. India and Bangladesh will play again on October 19 at Pune’s MCA Stadium.
