Liverpool’s Tyler Morton Eyes Lyon Switch After Initial Bid

Football & Cricket

Reports suggest that Liverpool`s 22-year-old midfielder, Tyler Morton, is considering a transfer to Lyon to further his career. The French club has reportedly initiated discussions with the Premier League side, showing interest in Morton, whose contract with the Reds is nearing its end. Liverpool, where Morton developed, is reportedly willing to let him leave permanently. This summer, Morton was a member of the England U21 squad that clinched the U21 European Championship title.

Arne Slot`s Liverpool boasts a robust midfield lineup, featuring prominent players such as Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo. In contrast, Lyon`s midfield options appear more limited. The French club recently offloaded Jordan Veretout to Al-Arabi and Jordan Lepenant to FC Nantes. Furthermore, coach Paulo Fonseca is looking to revitalize his midfield, especially given that Nemanja Matic (36) is in the final year of his deal and Corentin Tolisso is approaching his 31st birthday. Notably, Tolisso, a 2018 World Cup winner, had also attracted interest from Manchester United.

According to sources, Morton views a potential transfer to Lyon as a significant step forward for his professional development. It is further reported that Lyon has submitted an initial offer for Morton, though it falls short of Liverpool`s valuation, which is said to exceed £10 million.
