Lucas Chevalier’s Lille Future Tied to Donnarumma’s PSG Status

Football & Cricket

Despite having rejoined pre-season training with Lille OSC, the future of 23-year-old French international goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier might significantly depend on the ongoing situation with Gianluigi Donnarumma at Paris Saint-Germain.

According to reports, Chevalier is not actively seeking a transfer. Nevertheless, PSG is closely monitoring his status, as Donnarumma is now in the final year of his contract without having secured an extension.

Sporting advisor Luis Campos, who previously oversaw Chevalier’s early development during his tenure at Lille, has long been an admirer. Should Donnarumma depart this summer, Chevalier is considered a strong candidate to become his replacement in the Parisian club.

While Lille is not actively looking to sell their goalkeeper, a substantial offer, estimated to be around €40 million, could alter President Olivier Létang`s stance. Lille has already acquired Belgian goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart (27), but there is a noticeable difference in quality compared to Chevalier.

Chevalier is certainly not lacking interest from other clubs. He has already declined overtures from Bournemouth and another Premier League team, opting not to jeopardize his prospects for the 2026 World Cup. Although he has been called up to the senior France squad, he has yet to make his debut and is currently viewed as the backup to Mike Maignan.

Lille has not yet initiated discussions regarding a contract renewal for Chevalier. Despite no apparent tension between the player and the club, his future remains intrinsically linked to developments occurring within the capital club.
