Stade Brestois 29 has officially announced the acquisition of experienced midfielder Lucas Tousart, 28, from Union Berlin. This move marks the 28-year-old`s return to Ligue 1 after a five-year absence, having previously departed Lyon for Hertha Berlin in a significant €25 million transfer. The former French youth international was nearing the end of his three-year contract with Union Berlin, which he signed in 2023. Tousart has committed to a two-year deal with Brest.
Tousart will wear the number 24 jersey for Eric Roy`s squad, affectionately known as `Les Ty-Zeffs`. Brest sought to bolster their midfield with both strength and experience following the departures of Mahdi Camara, who moved to regional rivals Rennes for €8 million, and Pierre-Lees Melou, who joined Paris FC. While `Les Ty-Zeffs` had already secured Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt, Tousart`s arrival marks another significant addition from the Bundesliga. Thus far this season, Brest`s Ligue 1 campaign has seen them secure one draw and suffer two defeats in three matches.
