Reports from Foot Mercato indicate that Olympique Lyonnais is preparing a bid for Union Berlin`s 27-year-old defender, Danilho Doekhi. With just one year remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga club, the French publication suggests he could be acquired for approximately €7 million.
Doekhi was previously on OGC Nice`s radar last summer, as they sought a successor for Jean-Clair Todibo (25), who ultimately transferred to West Ham United. Despite significant interest in the Dutch player, including from Premier League clubs, a transfer did not materialize at that time.
Lyon sees Doekhi as a key addition to strengthen their defensive unit, potentially playing alongside their new signing and compatriot, Ruben Kluivert (24). The club`s ambitions include securing a return to the UEFA Champions League this season and making a deep run in the UEFA Europa League, building on their quarter-final appearance last season.
