Reports from L`Équipe indicate that Spanish club Mallorca has turned down an initial offer from French giants Olympique Lyon for the transfer of 28-year-old Slovakian goalkeeper Dominik Greif. Lyon, a prominent Ligue 1 club, reportedly tabled approximately €3 million for Greif, but the Spanish side is holding out for a valuation closer to €6 million for their experienced shot-stopper.
Even without a consensus on the transfer fee, Greif is reportedly keen on the move to Lyon. He has already finalized personal terms with the Rhone-based outfit. If Mallorca and Lyon can agree on a fee, the goalkeeper is poised to commit to a five-year contract with Les Gones.
Searching for a Goalkeeper: A Potential Perri Replacement?
Lyon`s pursuit of a new custodian comes after the recent departure of Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri, who transferred to Leeds United for approximately €16 million. With Rémy Descamps currently being the sole senior goalkeeper at Groupama Stadium, Greif is being considered as a prime candidate to fill the void left by the former Botafogo player.
