Olympique Lyon and Liverpool have successfully concluded negotiations for the transfer of 22-year-old defensive midfielder Tyler Morton. The total value of the deal is set at €15 million. This sum includes an initial payment of €10 million, with an additional €5 million contingent on performance-related bonuses. Furthermore, Liverpool has secured a 20% sell-on clause, entitling them to a portion of any future transfer fee for Morton.
Morton is anticipated to arrive in Lyon this week to finalize a five-year contract with Paulo Fonseca’s squad. Lyon`s scouting department reportedly identified the young English international as a perfect fit to enhance the Portuguese head coach`s midfield options. The club had a clear need for a versatile midfielder following the summer departures of Jordan Veretout and Johann Lepenant. Lyon was also actively seeking long-term replacements for experienced players like Nemanja Matic and Corentin Tolisso.
