Olympique Lyonnais` efforts to acquire Liverpool midfielder Tyler Morton, aged 22, are reportedly encountering significant difficulties, according to a recent report by L`Équipe.
Lyon has already seen Jordan Veretout depart this summer, with Nemanja Matić and Corentin Tolisso also potential departures. Irrespective of these potential exits, the club urgently needs midfield reinforcements, and Morton has been identified as a prime candidate, a fact initially reported by The Times.
While L`Équipe suggests OL has reached a personal agreement with the England U21 international, they have not yet finalized terms with his current club, Liverpool. The Merseyside club is seeking a direct transfer fee of €9 million, excluding any performance-based add-ons.
Lyon considers this valuation excessive, leading to a current standstill in negotiations between the two clubs.
Despite successfully appealing their administrative relegation to Ligue 2, Lyon faces ongoing financial challenges. New president Michelle Kang has implemented an austerity drive, significantly restricting available funds, which further complicates their pursuit of new players.
