ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Major Win for India, Star Batter Seen Batting in Nets Following Back Surgery. Team India is getting ready to play West Indies for the two-match Test series starting on July 12 after a break of more than a month following the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2023. Rohit Sharma and company will be attempting to resume their winning ways after suffering the defeat at the hands of Australia.

The Men in Blue have a busy schedule in the months ahead building up to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 in the subcontinent. All Indian players enjoyed a much-needed break of about a month after the WTC final.

Shreyas Iyer’s anticipated comeback to action has given Team India what appears to be a significant boost ahead of the World Cup at home. The ace hitter was seen batting in the practice fields.

Before the World Cup, which will take place in October and November, India has a lengthy tour of the West Indies, which will be followed by a trip to Ireland. They are also scheduled to compete in the Asia Cup in 2023 and will play an ODI series against Australia as part of their World Cup preparations.

There will be a lot of games in the upcoming months due to all of this and the second-string Indian team will also compete in the Asian Games in Hangzhou. For this reason, the BCCI is looking to monitor the workload of senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja, who will be rested for the five-match T20I series against the Caribbean team next month.

Iyer has lately been observed batting in the nets, giving the Men in Blue a huge boost with many important players like Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, and KL Rahul out injured and Rishabh Pant a long-term absence.

The middle-order hitter last played for the Indian side in the fourth test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2023 after undergoing back surgery earlier in the year.

As Iyer continues his recovery at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, Rohit Sharma and company would be aiming to get him back in the lineup as soon as possible.
