Reports indicate that Lyon`s talented 20-year-old attacker, Malick Fofana, is prioritizing a transfer to a club participating in the UEFA Champions League, even as Premier League side Everton shows considerable interest. The Merseyside club has reportedly engaged in negotiations with Olympique Lyonnais regarding a potential deal, which could be valued at up to €40 million.
Everton`s initial bid, reportedly around €36 million including various bonuses, was rejected by the French club. Les Gones are said to be holding firm on their demand for a fixed initial fee of €40 million, exclusive of any additional performance-related incentives or add-ons. Despite Everton`s pursuit, Fofana`s primary focus remains securing a move to a Champions League-qualified team. Several top European clubs are reportedly monitoring his situation, potentially waiting for opportunities to adjust their squad before making formal offers for the former Gent forward.
For Fofana, playing in Europe`s most prestigious club competition is the top priority should he leave the Groupama Stadium this summer. The Belgian international has already declined an offer from Nottingham Forest since the current transfer window opened. Furthermore, football giants such as Bayern Munich and Liverpool are rumored to be among the clubs expressing interest in the promising young attacker.
