Man detained for threatening to bomb India vs. Pakistan in the 2023 World Cup at Narendra Modi Stadium via email. Officials said on Wednesday that the Ahmedabad crime branch had detained a history sheeter for allegedly sending an email threatening to blow up the Narendra Modi Stadium here on October 14, the day India and Pakistan are supposed to play cricket for the World Cup.

A crime branch release stated that the accused, Karan Mavi, was taken into custody in Rajkot. The mail addressed to BCCI was written in Hindi. It said that on October 14, 2023, there would be an explosion at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the Motera district, and that “everyone will shudder.”

According to the crime branch, Mavi, a native of Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, was detained under sections 505 (1) B of the Indian Penal Code (public mischief by an act intended to cause fear or alarm among the people) and 506 (2), which deals with criminal intimidation.
