According to reports from L`Equipe, Manchester United have initiated discussions with the representatives of Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso regarding the possibility of him moving to Old Trafford. The 30-year-old French international returned to his boyhood club Lyon three years ago after a successful period at Bayern Munich. His current contract is set to expire in 2027. Last season, Tolisso demonstrated consistent form and was considered one of the standout midfielders in Ligue 1.
Tolisso`s improved performance, coupled with Lyon`s challenging financial circumstances, appears to have attracted interest from several clubs. Manchester United, who were previously opponents of Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals, have now formally expressed their interest by contacting the midfielder`s camp. Although Tolisso was reportedly not planning to leave Lyon, the prospect of joining a prominent club like Manchester United could potentially change his mind. L`Equipe adds that Tolisso is open to the idea of a move to a club of Manchester United`s stature.
Despite this interest, Lyon reportedly has no immediate plans to sell Tolisso, as they initially intended for new manager Paulo Fonseca to build the team around him. The club has already seen another experienced academy graduate, Alexandre Lacazette, depart. Nevertheless, securing a significant transfer fee and reducing the wage bill would be beneficial for Lyon`s finances. The report also mentions that Atlético Madrid might target Tolisso, particularly if their midfielder Rodrigo de Paul moves to Inter Miami. Additionally, Neom SC, the club recently joined by Lacazette, is also monitoring Tolisso`s situation.
