PSG forward Marco Asensio, 29, is reportedly nearing a permanent return to Aston Villa. Both clubs are close to an agreement that would see the Spanish international reunite with Unai Emery`s squad. According to L`Equipe, Aston Villa has submitted a €15 million bid for Asensio. However, Paris Saint-Germain value the player at €20 million, creating a €5 million difference in their valuations.
Despite the current valuation gap, both PSG and Aston Villa are optimistic that a compromise will be reached before Monday`s transfer deadline. Asensio previously spent the latter half of last season on loan with Aston Villa, where the former Real Madrid forward made a significant impact, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 21 appearances for the Birmingham-based Premier League club.
Asensio is in the final months of the three-year contract he signed with PSG as a free agent. His goal tally at Villa surpassed his contributions at PSG. Paris Saint-Germain is actively working to reduce their squad size ahead of the deadline, having already completed sales for players like Milan Skriniar, Nordi Mukiele, and Arnau Tenas. However, progress is still awaited regarding the potential exits of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Randal Kolo Muani.
