Inter Milan`s President, Beppe Marotta, has firmly dismissed recent media speculation regarding Hakan Calhanoglu`s potential transfer to Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. Marotta unequivocally stated that these reported offers are “imaginary” and purely a creation of media narratives.
Addressing journalists at a recent sponsorship event, Marotta responded to persistent claims suggesting that the Turkish midfielder was actively seeking a move back to his home country.
Calhanoglu Not Eager to Depart Inter
“I wouldn`t want this situation to escalate into something it isn`t, out of respect for both the player and Inter,” Marotta emphasized. “These stories are entirely media-driven; we are discussing hypothetical requests that have never actually materialized. Since no official request exists, there`s nothing for us to consider or respond to.”
He further confirmed the club`s expectations regarding the player`s immediate future: “We anticipate his presence for pre-season training, which is scheduled to commence on July 23rd.”
When questioned whether Inter had engaged in direct discussions with Calhanoglu about starting the new campaign, Marotta responded, “Certainly, we are always in communication. Just like our other players, he has never expressed any desire to leave the club.”

Despite Marotta`s clear stance, Turkish media outlets continue to suggest that Calhanoglu would willingly accept a move to Galatasaray, a club he has supported since childhood, provided Inter gives their approval and a mutually agreed transfer fee is reached.
However, Marotta and Inter director Piero Ausilio had already indicated last week that any previous offers were significantly below their valuation, consequently preventing any substantial negotiations from taking place.

Currently, Fenerbahce also appears to be exploring the possibility of signing the player. Yet, similar to Galatasaray`s rumored interest, this seems to be predominantly fueled by media speculation rather than direct and concrete discussions between the clubs.
