Marseille Dismisses Neymar Speculation as “Complete Nonsense”

Football & Cricket

Rumors originating from South America briefly connected Neymar (33) with a surprising return to Ligue 1, potentially joining Olympique de Marseille. However, club sources have swiftly and unequivocally dismissed these speculations.

According to TyC Sports, the former Paris Saint-Germain forward was reportedly considering a departure from Santos, with Marseille cited as a possible destination. Since his return to his boyhood club in January, the Brazilian international has faced challenges, including fitness issues, public criticism, and a recent incident involving a fan.

Nevertheless, the Ligue 1 club has emphatically denied making any approach for the player. A high-ranking source within Marseille informed Le Parisien that the rumor is nothing short of “complete nonsense”.

Instead of pursuing Neymar, Olympique Marseille is actively working to finalize a deal for another Brazilian attacker, Igor Paixão (25), who currently plays for Feyenoord. Paixão is anticipated to arrive before the week`s end, potentially alongside the return of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (36).
