Goalkeeper Simon Ngapandouetnbu (22) is reportedly set to leave Olympique de Marseille, having failed to make a single senior appearance since joining in 2019. Despite being selected for Cameroon`s 2022 FIFA World Cup squad, his playing time at OM has been exclusively with the B team. On the international stage, he has one cap for Cameroon`s U-23 team but is yet to feature for the senior `Indomitable Lions`.
According to L’Équipe, Marseille plans to terminate his contract, which would facilitate a move to another French club. He has been linked with Montpellier HSC, who were relegated to Ligue 2 last season.
Ngapandouetnbu was brought to Marseille in 2019 by then-sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, a former long-serving goalkeeper for FC Barcelona and Spain.
Montpellier, after failing to secure AS Monaco`s Yann Lienard (22), may now consider Ngapandouetnbu a suitable option as they aim for immediate promotion back to the top flight. Ngapandouetnbu spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Nîmes Olympique, where he made 11 appearances in the Championnat National.
