Olympique de Marseille has reportedly reached a full agreement with RB Leipzig for the transfer of Belgian midfielder Arthur Vermeeren. The 20-year-old is expected to arrive in the French city this evening to complete his move to the Ligue 1 club, marking a significant step for Les Olympiens.
The deal is structured as a loan with an option to buy, with Marseille agreeing to cover Vermeeren`s full salary during the loan period. This strategic acquisition comes as Marseille seeks to strengthen their midfield, particularly in light of the potential departure of Adrien Rabiot. Rabiot`s future at the club is currently uncertain, following a reported dressing room incident involving Jonathan Rowe, who has since transferred to Serie A side Bologna.
Vermeeren, a promising Belgian international, first made a name for himself at Royal Antwerp in 2023. His career then saw him move to Atletico Madrid, where he made only five appearances before securing a loan spell at RB Leipzig, which was later converted into a permanent transfer. Now, he looks set to embark on a new chapter in Ligue 1 with Marseille.
