According to reports from L’Équipe, Olympique Marseille is preparing a new bid to acquire 25-year-old Igor Paixão. This renewed effort is prompted by strong competition from English club Leeds United, which threatens to secure the winger`s services.
Leeds reportedly submitted an offer of €32 million plus bonuses to Feyenoord, spurring Marseille into more decisive action. The French side had previously seen two offers, for €16 million and €28 million, rejected by their Dutch counterparts and is now formulating a third, significantly more generous proposal.
L’Équipe indicates that Marseille had hoped to leverage their agreement on personal terms with Paixão to pressure Feyenoord. However, the Dutch club has remained firm on its €35 million valuation for the player.
This summer, Marseille has been actively seeking to strengthen the left side of their attack following Luis Henrique`s departure to Inter Milan. Nevertheless, several primary targets have eluded the club, with Noa Lang moving to Napoli and Johan Bakayoko joining RB Leipzig.
