Olympique Marseille has announced that French international midfielder Adrien Rabiot (30) and English youth international winger Jonathan Rowe (22) have been listed for transfer. This significant decision comes just one Ligue 1 match into the new season. The two players were involved in a physical altercation in the away dressing room at Roazhon Park following Marseille`s opening-day loss to Rennes, a match where Ludovic Blas secured a late winner in injury time despite Rennes playing with ten men.
An official statement from the Ligue 1 club confirmed the move:
“Olympique de Marseille announce that Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe have been placed on the club’s transfer list.”
The club further stated that this action was prompted by the duo`s “unacceptable behavior” in the locker room following the Stade Rennais FC fixture. Marseille emphasized that this decision was reached in consultation with the technical staff and aligns with the club`s internal code of conduct.
Both Rabiot and Rowe were formally notified of Marseille`s decision on Monday. Reports suggest that Italian giants AC Milan and Juventus are closely observing Rabiot`s situation. Meanwhile, Premier League side Sunderland and Italian club Bologna are among the teams reportedly interested in acquiring Rowe.
