Olympique de Marseille is reportedly making preparations for a significant transfer activity next summer, specifically anticipating the potential departure of its English winger, Mason Greenwood (23). According to a report from L’Équipe, the French club is considering a move for Lille’s Edon Zhegrova (26) as a potential replacement, with an eye on Greenwood`s eventual exit from the club by the summer of 2026.
Marseille’s sporting director, Medhi Benatia, has long held an interest in Zhegrova. However, LOSC has reportedly set an asking price of between €15 million and €20 million for the talented Kosovan international.
Greenwood joined Marseille in the summer of 2024 from Manchester United in a deal valued at €31.5 million, following a successful loan period with Spanish club Getafe. In his debut season with Marseille, the young Englishman made a remarkable impact, scoring an impressive 22 goals across all competitions and finishing as the team’s leading scorer.
Greenwood`s departure from Manchester United came after charges against him, including attempted rape and assault, were dropped in February 2023. Despite having made one appearance for England, reports now suggest he is close to a return to international football, having recently acquired Jamaican citizenship and a passport.
