Olympique de Marseille is making significant moves in the transfer market, reportedly securing an initial agreement for Benjamin Pavard.
According to a report from RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Olympique de Marseille has reached an initial agreement with Inter Milan regarding the transfer of Benjamin Pavard, aged 29. The deal is structured as a loan, which includes a €15 million option for Marseille to permanently acquire the versatile French defender.
Pavard, a French international and a member of the 2018 World Cup-winning squad, began his professional career in his home country, progressing through the ranks at Lille OSC. During the current transfer window, he was linked with a potential return to his former club. However, L’Équipe disclosed that his financial demands ultimately scuppered a move back to what he reportedly considers his “dream” club.
Strengthening their defensive line has been a primary objective for Marseille this summer. They have already brought in CJ Egan-Riley on a free transfer from Burnley FC and Facundo Medina on a loan-to-buy basis from RC Lens. Furthermore, the club is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a deal for Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United, underscoring their commitment to reinforcing their backline.
