Mathews and Chameera will be added to Sri Lanka's World Cup Squad as backups

Mathews and Chameera will be added to Sri Lanka’s World Cup Squad as backups. Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera and all-rounder Angelo Mathews will go with Sri Lanka’s World Cup team as reserves. He is one the best players.

They can only be called up to the squad in the event of a player injury. They are anticipated to reunite with the team on Friday, in advance of Sri Lanka’s fourth league match against Netherlands in Lucknow on Saturday. Due to a shoulder ache, fast bowler Matheesha Pathirana was unable to play in their previous match.

After losing their opening three matches against South Africa, Pakistan, and Australia, Sri Lanka is currently bottom of the points table and is the only team in the competition without a victory.

Due to a quadriceps tear, which requires three weeks to heal, their skipper Dasun Shanaka has already been ruled out of the tournament. Chamika Karunaratne, an all-rounder, has taken his position. In Shanaka’s absence, Kusal Mendis led Sri Lanka against Australia.

The 31-year-old Chameera was not healthy enough to be included in Sri Lanka’s World Cup team by the deadline, despite being a first-choice pick. His last appearance for Sri Lanka came during the World Cup qualifying warm-ups in June against Afghanistan. Following that, he missed the World Cup qualifier in Zimbabwe at first due to an injured pectoral muscle. And in August, following his comeback from that injury, he sustained another injury in the Lanka Premier League.

Angelo Mathews last appeared for Sri Lanka in the Colombo Test against Pakistan in July. He hasn’t played an ODI since the opening match of the home series against Afghanistan in June. Wanindu Hasaranga, a legspinner who controlled Sri Lanka, is also absent.
