According to information from L`Équipe, promising 19-year-old goalkeeper Mike Penders is reportedly close to finalizing a loan switch from Chelsea to their sister club, Strasbourg. Discussions between the Ligue 1 side and the Premier League giants regarding the temporary transfer of the young Belgian stopper are said to be advancing positively.
The need for a new goalkeeper at the Alsatian club arises after Djordje Petrovic concluded his successful loan spell at the Stade de la Meinau and returned to Stamford Bridge. The Serbian international impressed during his time with Strasbourg and is now understood to be attracting interest from several clubs, including some within the Premier League.
Penders also gained valuable experience last season away from the West London club, spending time on loan at Genk. During his spell there, the 19-year-old featured in 26 matches. His next temporary move is now anticipated to be to Strasbourg. The goalkeeper is currently part of the Chelsea squad participating in the Club World Cup in the USA, where they are preparing to face PSG in the competition`s final match.
