Newcastle United has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw. This development arises amidst ongoing speculation that the German centre-back could be leaving the Rossoneri during the current summer transfer window.
According to reports shared by Sky journalist Patrick Berger on X (formerly Twitter), Newcastle has provisionally agreed to a four-year contract with the former Schalke player. Meanwhile, German Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen is also said to be maintaining a strong interest in acquiring the defender.

Despite Newcastle`s advances, Berger`s report also suggests that Milan’s head coach, Massimiliano Allegri, is not keen on letting Thiaw depart this summer. Allegri reportedly envisions a significant role for the German defender within his plans, particularly in a potential three-man defensive formation.
Thiaw`s Future Amid Newcastle`s Pursuit
At the start of the summer, it seemed plausible that Thiaw might be placed on Milan`s transfer list. However, Allegri has reportedly been thoroughly impressed by the 23-year-old’s performances during the pre-season. Having additional versatile options at centre-back could prove vital for the tactical system the former Juventus coach aims to implement in Lombardy.

Newcastle is reported to have submitted an offer of €30 million for Thiaw. While negotiations between the two clubs are continuing, the Rossoneri are in a strong bargaining position and are expected to demand a substantial transfer fee for their promising defender.
