Mohammad Rizwan is preferred by Shahid Afridi over Shaheen for the T20 captaincy

Mohammad Rizwan is preferred by Shahid Afridi over Shaheen for the T20 captaincy. Many people are taking notice of the fact that former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi chose wicketkeeper-turned-batsman Mohammad Rizwan over left-arm fast Shaheen Shah Afridi for the T20 captaincy.

Speaking at a function in Australia, Afridi praised Rizwan and said that he should captain the Twenty20 team rather than his son-in-law Shaheen.

The great all-around player of his day expressed admiration for Rizwan’s level of focus and hard effort. His ability to concentrate solely on his game and disregard the actions of others is his strongest feature, and my favorite trait. He truly is a fighter!

Lightheartedly addressing the left-arm quick who was seated behind him at the ceremony, Afridi remarked, “I want to see him [Rizwan] as the T20 captain but mistakenly, Shaheen became the skipper.”

Afridi’s direct remarks caused the audience to erupt in laughter, and everyone on stage, even Shaheen, Rizwan, and Harif Rauf, could not help but smile.

In November, the lanky fast bowler took over for batting maestro Babar Azam. In 52 T20Is, the 23-year-old claimed 64 wickets.

Additionally, Shaheen captained Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), assisting the team in winning the competition twice in as many years, in the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Afridi has previously attacked Shaheen’s captaincy position. He had already acknowledged that he had prevented Shaheen from taking up the captaincy of the Lahore Qalandars.

In order to concentrate more on his bowling, the 46-year-old former cricket player had recommended his son-in-law to forgo the skipper position for a year or two.
