UEFA Confirms Suspension for Fiorentina Striker

UEFA has confirmed that Italian international Moise Kean will serve a two-match suspension in European competitions. This ban follows the red card he received during the first leg of the Conference League play-off against Ukrainian club Polissya last Thursday.

Kean experienced a dramatic first 45 minutes in Fiorentina`s decisive 3-0 away victory over Polissya. During this eventful period, he managed to score a goal, provide an assist, and then be sent off for an elbow, all before halftime.

The ex-Juventus forward received a straight red card for elbowing an opponent. This incident reportedly occurred after he was held and had his hair pulled by the opposing player.

While UEFA did not find sufficient evidence to impose a full three-match ban for violent conduct, they ultimately decided on a two-match suspension for the striker.

Consequently, Kean will be unavailable to coach Stefano Pioli for the upcoming second leg of the Conference League play-off against Polissya this Thursday. Furthermore, should Fiorentina successfully qualify for the main tournament, Kean will also be suspended for their opening group stage match.

Fiorentina remains heavily favored to advance, irrespective of Kean`s absence. Having secured a dominant 3-0 away victory against Polissya in the previous encounter, they can afford a home loss by up to two goals in the return leg and still comfortably progress to the next stage.
