Despite the recent closure of the transfer window, AS Monaco has continued its proactive approach to talent acquisition, confirming the official signing of three promising young players for their youth academy.
Matthias Wamu (16)
Among the new recruits is Matthias Wamu, a 16-year-old midfielder from Belgium. Wamu honed his skills through the highly-regarded Belgian youth system, notably progressing to play for Jong Genk, the youth team of Belgian football giants KRC Genk. A versatile player, capable of operating in both midfield and defence, he has already earned 20 caps for various Belgium youth national teams.
Daryl Leunga Leunga (17)
Daryl Leunga Leunga, a 17-year-old Belgian U16 international, also joins the Principality club. This central defender arrives from Standard Liege, where he spent his entire youth career. His potential was recognized early, as he was included in Standard Liege’s senior squad for the first two league matches of the current season, though he did not make an appearance.
Ekene Chukwuani (16)
The third exciting signing is Ekene Chukwuani, a 16-year-old Danish youth international and centre-forward. He joins Les Monégasques from Danish club Brøndby, having already featured at the U17 level for Denmark. All three new additions will be integrated into Monaco’s prestigious Groupe Élite youth squad, aimed at developing the club`s future first-team stars.
