AS Monaco has made its position unequivocally clear regarding the potential transfer of 23-year-old attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche. Despite significant interest from various European clubs throughout the transfer window, the promising Frenchman has exceeded expectations by remaining with his formative club, just days before the window officially closes.
The Principality club`s substantial €70 million valuation has effectively deterred potential suitors. Monaco has steadfastly maintained this asking price and feels justified in its decision, particularly following Akliouche`s recent call-up to the French national squad.
While rumors linking Akliouche with a move away continue to circulate, Monaco`s CEO, Thiago Scuro, addressed the speculation directly during a press conference on Friday, making his stance on a potential departure unambiguous.
“Is there a possibility that Akliouche leaves? No, not from our side. We have stated since June that we wanted to keep him. He understands that, too. Can we refuse a €60 million offer? Yes, we can. We do not have the intention of selling him,” Scuro declared.
Speaking at the same press conference, Akliouche himself acknowledged that “anything can happen” in football, but he firmly insisted that he was “happy” and content at Monaco.
