AS Monaco`s anticipated journey to Belgium on Wednesday afternoon for their UEFA Champions League debut against Club Brugge, scheduled for Thursday evening, faced an unexpected setback and was subsequently postponed.
The delay was caused by a series of unfortunate events involving their chartered aircraft. Both an air conditioning malfunction and a separate technical issue rendered the flight unviable, leading to its cancellation. Adi Hutter, the Principality club`s manager, confirmed the revised travel plans after the team had returned to their performance center in La Turbie. “Thiago (Scuro, AS Monaco CEO) and I decided to depart tomorrow,” he stated.
“I`ve never encountered a situation like this before,” Hutter commented on the unusual circumstances. “Some situations are simply beyond our control. It was certainly a bit peculiar and not ideal for us. Nevertheless, we are professionals and will continue our preparations for tomorrow`s match as usual.”
Consequently, AS Monaco is now scheduled to fly from Nice airport on Thursday morning. The match against Club Brugge is set to kick off at 18:45 local time.
