Montpellier receive offer for Modibo Sagnan from Turkish club

Football & Cricket

Following Montpellier HSC`s relegation to Ligue 2, speculation continues regarding the future of players. Center-back Modibo Sagnan, aged 26, is reportedly the subject of an offer from a Turkish club. The club`s drop to the second tier of French football has created uncertainty for many members of the squad at La Paillade.

This situation was compounded by comments from the club president towards the end of last season, who indicated that some players` history with the club was over, regardless of outcomes, and that a fresh start with committed individuals was necessary, as opposed to those only serving their own interests.

Sagnan, who made 27 appearances during the challenging campaign and even scored two goals, appears to be the latest player attracting interest from potential suitors. An offer has reportedly been submitted by Turkish side Çaykur Rizespor.

However, it remains undecided whether Montpellier will accept this bid and allow one of their key defensive players to leave. Sagnan is under contract until 2028 and is considered a potentially important figure in the club`s efforts to secure immediate promotion back to Ligue 1.
