Jean-Charles Castelletto, the 30-year-old central defender from Nantes, has finalized a three-year transfer to Al-Duhail, a club in the Qatar Stars League. Both participating clubs have officially confirmed the move. The Cameroonian international was a highly sought-after player during the current transfer window, attracting interest from Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates and Al-Wakrah in Qatar. Reports even suggested that Castelletto underwent medical examinations with both interested parties. Ultimately, Al-Duhail secured his signature by matching a €4 million offer from their competitors and presenting a more favorable contract.
During his five seasons with Nantes, Castelletto made a significant impact, playing 163 matches for Les Canaris and contributing to their 2022 Coupe de France victory. The 32-cap Cameroon international`s departure was anticipated by Nantes, who had already brought in Chidozie Awaziem from Colorado Rapids as a replacement. At Al-Duhail, under the management of Christophe Galtier, Castelletto will reunite with former Ligue 1 colleagues such as Benjamin Bourigeaud and Marco Verratti.
