Nantes Poised to Sign Celtic Midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu

Football & Cricket

French club Nantes is reportedly on the verge of securing the transfer of Celtic FC midfielder Kwon Hyeok-kyu, a former South Korea U23 international. The 24-year-old, who initially joined the Scottish Premiership giants from Busan two years ago, has yet to make a senior appearance for Celtic. Over the past two seasons, he gained valuable experience during loan spells, first with St. Mirren and subsequently with Hibernian, despite still being under contract with Celtic until 2028.

Nantes, actively seeking to reinforce their defensive midfield options following the recent departures of Douglas Augusto and Pedro Chirivella, has identified Kwon Hyeok-kyu as a key target. He is expected to undergo a medical examination in Nantes today, anticipating the signing of a three-year contract with the Ligue 1 club. Reports also suggest that Hyun-seok Hong, a midfielder from Mainz, is also set to join Nantes on a loan deal, further strengthening the squad.
