Napoli have reportedly decided to end their wait for Liverpool`s Darwin Nunez and will instead focus their efforts on securing Udinese striker Lorenzo Lucca. The decision comes as the club felt continuing to wait was too risky.
Lucca had been on Napoli`s list of targets for several weeks, but his pursuit was put on hold while the Partenopei prioritized negotiations with Liverpool for their preferred option, Nunez.
However, with little progress being made in talks for Nunez, coupled with increasing interest in Lucca from other Serie A clubs like Milan and Atalanta, Napoli concluded they could no longer afford delays.
Lucca Becomes Napoli`s Attacking Priority
Consequently, Napoli have now fully committed to signing the Italian international. They have successfully agreed on personal terms with the player.
Negotiations are now ongoing to finalise the transfer details with Udinese, including potential performance-related bonuses and add-ons. The total value of the deal is anticipated to reach approximately €34 million.
Udinese initially signed the 24-year-old striker from Pisa last summer for €8 million, following an initial loan period. His career history includes spells at clubs such as Ajax, Palermo, and Torino.
During the last Serie A season, Lucca made 33 appearances for Udinese, scoring 12 goals.
