Napoli`s new signing, Sam Beukema, was officially presented to the media this afternoon at the team`s training camp in Dimaro. The 26-year-old informed reporters that he believes the club will help him achieve his “personal goal” of joining his role model, Virgil Van Dijk, in the Dutch national team.
Beukema also stated, as quoted by TuttoMercatoWeb, that Napoli`s 2024-25 Scudetto success did not surprise him, remarking that Conte`s side “showed determination in every game.”
The Dutch center-back completed his transfer to the Neapolitan club from Bologna earlier this week for a total of €30 million, including bonuses. The player signed a five-year contract reportedly worth €3 million per season.

Beukema: “My Role Model? Van Dijk”
During the press conference, Beukema was asked if he thought Napoli could help him step up to the Dutch national team, for which he currently remains uncapped. The 26-year-old responded, “Yes, it`s a personal goal of mine and one of the reasons I came here. Napoli is a great club, playing in the Champions League and competing for the Scudetto. I hope to make it to the national squad; it`s both a goal and a dream.”
The Dutchman was then inquired about any defender he considers a role model. He admitted, “Right now, I think one of the best is Van Dijk – he is very strong, modern, and a great example. But there are many others. Even here at Napoli, we have strong defenders, and I can`t wait to start working with them.”

Beukema joined Napoli following two seasons with Bologna, having moved there from Dutch club Go Ahead Eagles in 2023 for €10 million. The Rossoblu club thus made a significant profit from the player, who made 80 appearances for them across all competitions.
