Standard Liège defender Nathan Ngoy, 22, is reportedly on the verge of joining Lille OSC. The Belgian youth international has successfully completed his medical examination and is anticipated to sign a five-year contract with the Ligue 1 club.
The transfer fee for Ngoy is understood to be €4.5 million. This comes after Lille increased their initial offer, as a previous bid of €2 million was rejected by Standard earlier in the transfer window.
Described as a right-sided central defender with considerable potential, Ngoy`s career has seen him battle several early injuries, including a cruciate ligament rupture, hamstring problems, and meniscus damage. Despite these setbacks, he has consistently represented Belgium at youth levels from U15 to U19.
Furthermore, Ngoy`s acquisition might indicate Lille`s proactive planning, as their current starting centre-back, Bafodé Diakité, 23, is attracting significant Premier League interest, notably from Bournemouth and Sunderland. Lille is reportedly holding firm on a valuation exceeding €40 million for Diakité.
