New Midfielder Diouf “Didn’t Hesitate” When Inter Signed French International in €25m Deal

Football & Cricket

Young French international Andy Diouf, a France U-21 player, will proudly wear the number 17 shirt for Inter Milan. He recently stated that he “didn`t hesitate for a moment” when presented with the opportunity to join the prestigious Italian club from RC Lens, emphasizing that it was a profound “honour” to make the move.

The talented midfielder successfully completed his medical examination and officially finalized his transfer today. The agreement is reportedly valued at €20 million, with potential additional payments of up to €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

Diouf openly shared that the negotiation process was remarkably swift, concluding rapidly not only between the two football clubs but also concerning his personal contract terms.

Diouf Eager to Finalize Inter Transfer

“Inter is a club with a rich history. As soon as I heard the news, I didn`t think twice: there was no doubt for me about choosing this Club, and it`s an honour to be here. Being an Inter player means a lot, I`m very proud and I can`t wait to step onto the pitch at San Siro.”

Prior to securing Diouf, the Nerazzurri had reportedly pursued Manu Koné from Roma. However, following the rejection of their alleged €40 million offer, Inter promptly shifted their focus to another promising French international.

Describing his approach to the game, Diouf remarked: “I like to play with the ball at my feet, I play with personality, and I enjoy technical moves and showing what I can do with the ball.”

While the acquisition of another midfielder was not initially anticipated by Inter for this summer window, this significant transfer appears to reflect a tactical adjustment within the team, particularly after Cristian Chivu assumed the role of head coach, succeeding Simone Inzaghi.

A notable French contingent is progressively taking shape at San Siro, already including key players such as Marcus Thuram, Ange-Yoan Bonny, and Benjamin Pavard.

“I`m glad there are several French players here. I know Ange-Yoan well because we played together for the national side, and he spoke very highly of the Club. For sure, it helps to come into a team where you already know some of your teammates.”

“I think I can put my qualities to the team’s use, taking the time I need to adapt to the style of the league, the team, and my teammates. Having a coach who has played here at the highest level will definitely be an advantage.”

Diouf`s highly anticipated debut for Inter could potentially take place as early as Monday, when the team is scheduled to host Torino at their home ground, San Siro.

“I’m very happy to be here, and I can’t wait to show what I’m capable of on the pitch. See you very soon!”
