Newcastle United recently dispatched scouts to observe Atalanta`s promising defender, Giorgio Scalvini, during a pre-season friendly match. This renewed interest from the Magpies follows previous reports of Chelsea`s attention towards the 21-year-old talent.
Although Newcastle`s monitoring of the center-back had reportedly lessened in recent weeks, Sky Sport Italia confirmed that a scout from the Premier League club was present to watch Scalvini play in Atalanta`s friendly against their Under-23 squad.
Scalvini: A Hot Prospect for Premier League Teams

Despite ongoing tracking by Newcastle and recent interest from Chelsea, neither club has submitted a formal offer for Scalvini. The young Italy international, who faced limited playtime last season due to significant knee and shoulder injuries, is considered a highly valuable asset in Italian football. His contract with Atalanta runs until June 2028, and any potential transfer would likely command a fee well in excess of €50 million.
