Newcastle United is reportedly pursuing Eintracht Frankfurt`s 23-year-old striker, Hugo Ekitike. Discussions between the clubs are understood to be in progress, with Newcastle targeting a transfer worth €75 million.
The Magpies had previously attempted to sign Ekitike in January 2022, but the potential transfer did not materialize as the player chose to remain with Stade de Reims at the time.
Ekitike began his senior career at Reims. Following a loan spell at Danish side Vejle Boldklub, he made his mark during the 2021–22 season, finding the net 11 times in 26 appearances.
After the unsuccessful attempt by Newcastle, he moved to Paris Saint-Germain in July 2022 on an initial loan deal that included an option to buy. However, his time in Paris proved to be a disappointing season.
Ekitike subsequently joined Eintracht Frankfurt in February 2024, with the transfer becoming permanent later that summer.
He enjoyed a highly successful 2024–25 campaign for Frankfurt across the Bundesliga and UEFA Europa League, contributing significantly with 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches.
Before this, both Manchester United and Chelsea had reportedly shown interest in the young French forward.
