Paris FC`s attempts to sign the acclaimed midfielder N`Golo Kanté in mid-August ultimately did not lead to a successful transfer agreement. Despite direct involvement from Paris FC owner Antoine Arnault in the negotiations, significant hurdles prevented the deal from materializing.
Sources indicate that Kanté, currently 34 years old, was also offered to AS Monaco last month, though those discussions similarly failed to progress. The primary obstacle in both instances appears to have been the substantial demands set by Al-Ittihad, Kanté`s current club, for his release.
Even with just one year remaining on his contract, Al-Ittihad reportedly maintained high expectations regarding any potential transfer fee. While securing an agreement with Kanté himself might not have been the issue, the Saudi club`s firm stance proved to be a decisive factor in the breakdown of talks with Paris FC.
As a result, the former Chelsea and Leicester City star remains in the Gulf State for the time being. However, these recent developments have opened the door, suggesting that a return to French football for Kanté could still become a possibility in the future.
