Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has openly expressed his strong dissatisfaction with Atalanta, accusing the club of “broken promises” and “poor treatment” regarding his potential transfer. This controversy has escalated further after the Nigeria national team publicly declared their support for him.
Lookman`s Stance Against Atalanta

Lookman’s discontent stems from Atalanta`s refusal to accept a significant offer from Inter, reportedly around €42 million with an additional €3 million in add-ons. While Atalanta is said to be demanding €50 million, the player asserts that Inter`s proposal is fair and that the club is “blocking” his move for reasons he doesn`t understand. He confirmed on Instagram that he has formally submitted a transfer request.
The official Super Eagles account on X (formerly Twitter) further amplified the situation, siding with Lookman and implicitly criticizing Atalanta`s stance. In response, Atalanta reportedly feels unfairly portrayed for seeking their desired €50 million valuation, believing it is a justifiable price that other potential suitors might be prepared to meet.
Lookman, who will be 28 in October, joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 for €10.85 million plus add-ons. He has since become a crucial player for the club, famously scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League Final and being named African Player of the Year, highlighting his immense value and contribution.
