No Ball Drama, Sybrand Engelbrecht Stumped by Latham But Reversed Due to No Ball

Another Drama in the 6th Match of the ICC World Cup was when Ravindra was Bowling to the Netherlands batter Sybrand Engelbrecht. He charged against the bowler and left the crease. The keeper collected the ball and stumped the batter out. The umpire gave him out and started his walk to the pavilion when he was stopped to check for a No Ball.

The third had a close look and favored the batter as Latham collected the ball in front of the stumps. After completing the review the batter was called again to continue his batting. And happily accepted.

This is not the first time happened in the cricket fields. We have seen a few decisions like this one in the past. Let’s see what the Law says about this kind of action.

“The wicket-keeper must allow the ball to pass the stumps before taking it, unless it has touched either the batter or his bat first (Law 21.9). If the wicket-keeper fails to do this, the delivery is a no-ball, and the batter cannot be stumped (nor run out, unless he attempts to run to the other wicket).”
