NED, the only associate team in the ICC Men’s Cricket WC23, with their surprise entry to the CWC23 finding to surprise the ICC Full Member teams in the World cup. Today they have taken on NZ at Hyderabad, India. 

It’s the 5th day of ICC Men’s Cricket Worldcup 2023 where the table topper’s – New Zealand – are facing Netherlands. NZ will try gaining 2 important points and keeping themselves on top with a massive runrate boost. O hte other hand, NED have started really well by restricting NZ on 322.

Both teams are playing their 2nd match of the CWC23, India. Eerlier in the day, Dutch skipper, Edwards, elected to field first after winning the toss against the Black Caps. Their bowling performance is up-to-the-mark as the Dutch bowlers take wickets with regular intervals. That’s the main reason NZ couldn’t set impossible total for the Netherlands. 

Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd start the chase for NED whereas Trent Boult and Matt Henry open the bowling for the KIwis in the 2nd innings of ICC Worldcup game against the Dutch.

Both openers start sensibly but Henry doesn’t get late in striking for the Kiwis. Vikramjit Singh is sent back to the dugout after scoring 12 off 20. He misses the slightly deviated ball that hits the top of the middle. 

At the end of the 1st powerplay, NED are 35 for 1 at 3.5 requiring another 288 at 7.2 with 9 wickets in hand. They manage to steal only three boundaries durin ghte 1st power play.

The onset of the 2nd power play proves costly for the Dutch as Max O’Dowd is removed by Santner. O’Dowd misses the quicker from Snatner that’s going to click the leg stump. He goes for 16 off 31 striking at 51.61.

Bas de Leede and Ackermann take taem’s total to 67 when Ravindra factor comes into play. You can’t keep Ravindra out of the game for long as he catches the big fish this time. Trent boult at long-off takes the jiggling catch and sends back de Leede who only adds 18 off 25. The Dutch allrounder takes the aerial route and tries to clear the long-off but Boult’s brilliant catch helps removing him at 67 for 3.

NED add 45 for 2 in next ten at 4.5. Ackermann stands firm and tall against the Kiwis spin attackby scoring 26 off 30 at this stage of the innings. They reach to 100 in the 22nd. At half way stage of the innings, Netherlands score 114 for 3 and require 209 more in next half of the innings at 8.36.

A 50-runs stand for the 4th wicket is broken by causing a little bit confusion between Teja Nidamanuru and Ackermann taht proves enough for Nidamanuru to go back to the pavilion. He’s run out on 21 off 26 striking at 80.76 when team’s total is 117.

Santner’s double strike proves a setback for Netherlands as first Ackermann and then skipper are sent back to the dugout. Ackermann makes 96 off 73 whilst Edwards goes for 30 off 27in 33rd and 35th respectively. 

NED manage 45 only from 31-40 losing 3 crucial wickets thanks to Santner. Collectively, Netherlands grab 161 from 11-40 for the loss of 6 wickets. This 2nd power play takes away the game from Netherlands. They are 196 for the loss of 7 and require 127 at 12.7 in last 10 overs.

First with the bat and then with the ball Santner becomes the strong contender of man of the match tonight. He takes his 5th of the night for 55 and traps Ryan Klein LBW. It’s the 2nd fifer for Santner in ODIs and he also becomes the 1st KIwi spinner to take fifer in ICC Men’s ODI Worldcup. He also claims the best bowling figures for the CWC23 so far with 5/59 in his ten overs quota.

NED reach 200 in 43rd over of the innings for the loss of 8 wickets. First Rachin and then Santner complete his 10 overs. Rachin picks one for 46. Meanwhile Matt Henry picks the rest of the of the wickets tonight. NED are bowled out for 223 and lose by 99 runs.
