Young defender Amidou Doumbouya, 18, has finalized his transfer from his youth club OGC Nice to Qatari side Al-Duhail Sports Club.
This move concludes another piece of business for Nice during what has been an active transfer window. Doumbouya, who progressed through Nice`s academy ranks, made four senior appearances but found consistent first-team chances limited. Despite this, the promising defender drew attention from clubs in the Middle East.
He was initially on the verge of joining Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli. However, despite an agreement being reached between all parties, that transfer ultimately did not materialize. Subsequently, Al-Duhail Sports Club, a prominent team in the Qatar Stars League, stepped in and successfully secured Doumbouya`s signature on a permanent deal.
While the exact transfer fee has not been publicly disclosed, French sports publication L`Équipe suggests the centre-back`s move to Qatar is valued at €250,000. At the time of the transfer`s completion, Doumbouya had just one year remaining on his contract with OGC Nice.
