Norwich City Football Club has officially announced the acquisition of Papa Amadou Diallo, the promising 21-year-old winger from French side Metz. Both clubs have confirmed this significant transfer. According to reports, including one from the respected French sports newspaper L`Equipe, an agreement between “Les Grenats” (Metz) and “The Canaries” (Norwich) was finalized earlier this week for a transfer fee believed to be around €4.5 million.
The Senegalese international played a pivotal role in Metz`s impressive campaign last season, which culminated in their promotion to Ligue 1. During his impactful time in Ligue 2, Diallo was a standout performer, demonstrating his attacking prowess by contributing significantly with seven goals and four assists.
Expressing his profound enthusiasm about the move, Diallo stated, “I`m incredibly excited for this new chapter in my career. The sporting director and head coach played a vital role in my decision to come here, and I`m eager to begin working with the club. It has always been a dream of mine to play football in England. This is something entirely new for me, but I am fully ready and prepared for all the challenges that lie ahead.”
Diallo has formally committed to Norwich City by signing a comprehensive four-year contract. He is set to proudly wear the No. 19 jersey for the club. In anticipation of Diallo`s departure, Metz had already taken steps to bolster their squad by bringing in two Georgian wingers, Giorgi Tsitaichvili and Giorgi Abuachvili.
