OGC Nice Reinforces Defense with Kojo Peprah Oppong Signing

Football & Cricket

OGC Nice has officially completed the acquisition of 21-year-old Ghanaian defender Kojo Peprah Oppong. The promising player makes the move from IFK Norrköping, a prominent club in Sweden`s top football league.

This transfer further strengthens Nice`s central defensive options ahead of the forthcoming season, following the earlier season-long loan agreement for Juma Bah from Manchester City. Reinforcing the backline has been a key priority for Le Gym. This strategic focus is particularly important given that veteran defender Dante will turn 42 in October and is confirmed to be playing his final professional season. Additionally, the team faces immediate defensive challenges as Moïse Bombito is set to miss the start of the season, and both Youssouf Ndayishimiye and Mohamed Abdelmonem are sidelined for a significant duration after sustaining ACL injuries towards the end of the previous campaign.

Oppong joins the French club on a permanent deal. While OGC Nice has not publicly disclosed the transfer fee or the specific length of his contract, reports from the respected French sports newspaper L’Équipe indicate that the fee for his transfer is estimated to be between €2 million and €3 million. Having finalized his contract, Oppong is now set to link up with his new teammates at their pre-season training camp currently underway in Austria.

Les Aiglons, as the Nice team is affectionately known, are scheduled to commence their competitive season with a crucial UEFA Champions League qualifier match against Portuguese giants SL Benfica on August 6th.
