Olympique de Marseille is reportedly engaged in advanced discussions with Juventus concerning the potential transfer of Timothy Weah. According to a report from esteemed football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old U.S. international, who previously celebrated Ligue 1 titles with both Paris Saint-Germain and Lille OSC, has expressed significant interest in a move to Marseille and has already reached an agreement on personal terms with the French club.
Romano indicates that Marseille intends to structure the deal as a loan with a mandatory purchase option. The specific transfer fee, however, remains under negotiation between the two clubs. Earlier reports by L`Équipe suggested that Marseille had attempted to include midfielder Valentin Rongier (30) as part of the agreement, but this proposal was reportedly declined by the Serie A powerhouse.
Weah`s prospective arrival would substantially enhance Marseille`s tactical flexibility, a quality somewhat diminished following Luis Henrique`s (23) transfer to Internazionale Milan. Similar to Henrique, whom former head coach Jean-Louis Gasset once lauded as a “Swiss army knife” for his adaptability, Weah is highly versatile and capable of performing effectively across various positions, particularly excelling as both a winger and a wing-back.
