A player currently on loan from La Liga giants Barcelona has continued to impress this season, scoring a crucial late goal on Saturday.
The player in question is Ansu Fati.
Ansu Fati departed Barcelona last summer after learning he was not part of manager Hansi Flick’s plans.
The Spanish international signed a contract with Ligue 1 club AS Monaco, keeping him there until the summer of 2026.
Despite some fitness issues, his time in France has largely been a success.
On Saturday, Ansu Fati was brought on as a substitute when Monaco visited Metz for a league match.
As the game entered injury time, the 23-year-old proved to be the decisive player.
Receiving a low cross from the left, Ansu Fati expertly controlled the ball before scoring the winning goal in Monaco’s 2-1 victory.
This goal brought his Ligue 1 goal tally for the season to 10, and 11 across all competitions.
A permanent transfer to Stade Louis II this summer is now looking increasingly probable for Ansu Fati.
